Moral Value Based Education

With a view impart Vedic teaching in the public school system of education, the school endeavors to enable the students to imbibe the sublime elements of our culture and civilization. Stree is laid on the universal aspects of  Indian Culture and students are introduced to our rich spiritual heritage which transcends the narrow limits of caste, colour, creed and language. Emphasis is laid on the practical part and all the academic and co-curricular activities which go a long way to build up an atmosphere in which the students imbibe, through unconsciously, the time honoured values of life which we cherish the most.

The mental health and well being of our children requires our attention. We  understand that school plays a crucial role in the development of cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional and moral aptitude and competencies in our children. Childhood and adolescence is a time when they realize who they are and what would they like to be? It’s a time to carve their identities, attitudes and values. According to the national Curriculum Framework 2005, the aims of education envisage imparting social values and life skills along with academics. In today’s fast-changing, competitive world, it is imperative for us to enable children to make sense of life to pursue a purpose and recognize the rights of others. We understand the development of self esteem and ethics, the need to cultivate children’s creativity, the desire to live in harmony with oneself and with one’s natural and social environment. In accordance to this philosophy, we have counselors to impart life skill education to the students to realize their strengths and weeknesses to deal effectively with the demand and challenges of everyday life, through various groups and individual counseling sessions. The counselors also provide help for a wide range of emotional and psychological problems like personal discomfort, anxiety depression, low self esteem etc. through appropriate coping skills in individual sessions as per the child’s needs. Our Endeavours at DAV is to promote healthy and harmonious growth of a child to give able minded and competent citizens to the society, who lives a productive and fulfilling life.

To inculcate moral values in the students, the schools begin new academic session with Hawans, that includes recitation of Vedic Mantras, devotional songs, patriotic songs and thought for the day. Stress is laid on the universal aspects and eternal values of Indian Culture. Hawan is performed on occasions and Dharm Shiksha books are prescribed to educate the students in moral values. Vedic Initiation Camps are held in a year. Moral talks are regular part of Morning Assembly and no opportunity is missed to develop the children into sensitive and caring human beings.
